Louis R. Forella, Sr.

Louis Forella (85), of Staten Island, New York, sadly passed away on May 18, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Louis was born on April 7th , 1941, to Louis and Jenny, in Bronx, New York. As the eldest of three children, he became a source of strength and stability for his siblings, Linda and Allen, from a young age. During times when their father could not always be there, he naturally stepped into a supportive role, helping guide and care for his family with the same sense of responsibility and devotion that would define his entire life. Shortly after graduating from DeWitt Clinton High School, Louis joined the United States Marine Corps as a reservist in 1960. While a USMCR reservist, he worked at Bank of America; it was there where he would continue his relationship with the love of his life, Janet. Married in 1965, Louis and Janet were celebrating their 61 st wedding anniversary this upcoming September. Louis and Janet settled in Staten Island, New York, where they raised their two children, Janet and Louis Jr. Louis was a hardworking and dedicated family man; he always made sure his family was supported. Following his time at Bank of America, he pursued a career in the linen and textile industry working for Cascade Linen Supply Corporation before ultimately turning his ambition and entrepreneurial spirit into his own successful business. Through his determination, strong work ethic, and generosity, he provided a life filled with stability, opportunity and cherished memories for his family. Louis was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family; his home was the center of countless family gatherings, holidays, and barbecues. He loved treating his family to vacations to Aruba and spoiling his grandchildren at Christmas, always giving selflessly and expecting nothing in return. Even during a long and courageous battle with cancer, during which he endured tremendous suffering, his greatest concern remained caring for the love of his life, Janet, who faces her own disabilities. After a lifetime spent providing for and supporting his family, Louis continued to put the needs of those he loved before his own, showing unwavering strength, devotion, and selflessness until the very end. He never allowed cancer to define him. Instead, he faced his illness with remarkable courage and determination, fighting tirelessly and never giving up hope. The additional years he was blessed with became years filled with more laughter, more time with family, and countless cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Louis is survived by his devoted wife Janet, their two children, Janet and Louis; their spouses, John and Rachel, his five grandchildren, Julia, Kayla, Emma, Nolan and Sophia, his sister Linda and her husband Jimmy, along with several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Jenny, and his brother Allen. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at St. Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308.
